2008 Amphorae Cabernet Sauvignon

I have always been a “Cab Man” for as long as I remember since I first fell in love with “wines of class”. I am always looking for them, even in the middle of “Pinot Noir Heaven”, whether that be in Oregon or California. When I do find one that get’s my heart racing, and my palate telling my mind not to “spit”, well, it just makes for a good day. That’s what it was when I first tasted this Cabernet. Love at first sip ! The nice full body, spice, and berry flavor, combined with big tannins, and then the discovery of chocolate after a nice finish, just put my taste buds over the edge, and a very serious smile on my face.
Amphorae were used for thousands of years to store and transport wine. Studying and tracking these clay vessels has allowed us to gain knowledge about early winemaking cultures. Over time Cabernet Sauvignon has become a staple in most wine regions. With this wine we hope to transport the drinker to the Rogue Valley region, to enjoy a new experience of this varietal.
With aromas of berry, chocolate and earth accompany flavors of plum, blackberry, spice, toast and a thick body with soft tannins.
“The big body, mild tannins and soft elegance of this wine, with a lingering finish is exactly what I like to find in my Cabernet Sauvignon. Bravo !” I would and did personally combine this with a big ol’ juicy “Rib Eye” steak ! Wow ! It made me want to have steak every night !” Gary W. Peterson…A Wine To Die For L.L.C.
