2008 Ancient Cellars One Toe Duck Pinot Noir

I was first introduced to this wine in McMinnville Oregon at a Wine and Food Event. Actually “dragged” by my wife, to the Ancient Cellars booth and told “You just have to try the One Toe Duck” ! As this doesn’t often happen, but when it does ? she is never wrong. I was quite impressed with the wines produced by Chris Baker, the Winemaker. Then I tasted his wines, and became much more impressed. I believe you will be too.
Like a good glass of Pinot Noir our planet and its creatures are in balance. This wine and it’s name find inspiration from a mallard duck struck by a car, who ecovered to thrive with an obvious scar and namesake.
The wine is well balanced with rose petal, cinnamon, and spice aromas (and everything nice); ripe black cherry and raspberry flavors interwoven with bright acidity and a silky body.
A wine creation, well balancedand true to that “little duck”- tenacious on the palate.
“This is a true Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, solid medium weight, berries that dance on your tongue, great body and a wine that makes you dream that the bottle will never empty !” “I could sip on this wine with almost any meal, or simply on it’s own. I will have a problem keeping bottles in my wine cellar !” Gary W. Peterson A Wine To Die For L.L.C.
I particularily suggest this with any Salmon dish, and hesitate to suggest with “Roast Duck” ? Although I am sure the “Little Guy” would be quite honored, as well he should, to have such a splendid wine named after him.
