2008 “Gilt” Pinot Gris
Wine and Gilt are forms of art that numerous cultures have produced for millennia. Like guilding, the wine making process applied in producing this Pinot Gris was used to produce a more ornate, golden and complex art piece.
Gilt is a soft, full bodied wine with bright acidity. The abundant melon, apricot and undertones of grapefruit make it extremely drinkable alone, or paired with foods.
Gilt Pinot Gris was rated by Wine Spectator as “Light and silky, with pretty pair and Meyer lemon character in an inviting frame.
Finding this excellent Pinot Gris is just another one of my great adventure days in Oregon Wine Country. Each Vitner produces different flavor in his or her wines. Yes, each variety does (or should) have the basic structure of that variety, but whether it be the soil, weather, on skins, etc. they are all unique. And that is what makes wine tasting such an enjoyable occupation. However, every once in a while, I come accross o refreshing, crisp, flavorful white, that tells me, this is one of the special ones, meant for greatness. That’s what happened when I tasted this wine at a wine and food show in McMinnville, Oregon. And then when I had private “barrel tour” of the owners facilities, and got to taste the new Pinot Gris, I found no guilt in dreaming about what I couldn’t yet have.
“I have tasted many, many Pinot Gris in my lifetime. The “Guilt” from this Winemaker is such an aromatic pleasure on your tastebuds, such a great white wine.” Gary W. Peterson Ac Wine To Die For L.L.C.
This is truly a pleasure worth the guilt, so enjoy….
