ArborBrook 2007 “Sydney” Semillon

This beautiful wine, golden and honeycomb in color, is a Sauternes-style dessert wine. It greets you with ripe pineapple and honeysuckle in the nose, and explodes with a deep and rich pineapple, mango and other warm tropical fruits in the initial impression. The fruit for this wine was harvested late in November, 2007, following 2 days of snow, thus harvested in the true spirit of an authentic dessert wine. It’s soft and silky mouthfeel captivates and lingers through a long and beautiful finish that pairs well with foie gras, blue cheese, roasted hazelnuts and dried fruit. This carefully handcrafted dessert wine is an extraordinary finish to a beautiful meal.
My experience with ArborBrook Vineyards and Mary, Dave and Sydney, was one I will always remember. It was obvious to me that the care and dedication to the business, the wines, and of course Mary’s horses, was their life. Their daughter Sydney, who’s name is on this wine, I believe because of the pure, clean, beauty found in the sweetness of this wine, is just a charming young lady.
This wonderful “desert wine”, is one that stands out from the rest. When I first tasted it in their “Barn Tasting Center”, I was quite tempted to ask then to “just leave the bottle”. This is a wine that would put quite a finish on any dinner, and would be a highlight to any holiday or special occasion.
The reason I do what I do, is wines like this one. Bringing special wines that I find, and I love, to you, from smaller “botique” wineries, where these families have their hands on that wine, from beginning to finish, and then to your lips.
