ArborBrook 2009 Estate 777 Block Pinot Noir

I must confess, before heading to ArborBrook Winery, I researched as I always do, the winery, and any reviews of their wines. In 2008, Wine Spectator Magazine stated that the Estate 777 Block Pino Noir “…nicely focused red cherry and currant flavors that glide smoothly through a thin veil of tannins, lingering effortlessly”. Wine Enthusiast is quoted as saying “Elegance is what Pinot Noir should be about and that is what is delivered”. And finally, in a review by Robert Parker’s The ine Advocate…”the finish lasted 11 seconds or longer”.
So…These reviews were of previous years released, and sold out. Parket had reviewed the 2008 of which there were no bottles available, or so I was told. When I spole to Mary about wishing I could have sipped a bit of that year, she told me “wait here, I’ll be right back !” She returned with one of the remaining 4 bottles from her husband Dave’s private collection. She and I enjoyed a few “sips” of that bottle, and let me tell you, the finish and length of that awesome Pinot Noir I can still taste today. This 2009 is definately a twin in my opinion.
The dark ruby color leads you into black currants, dark raspberries, blackberries and leather. The acidity compliments a large juicy mouthfeel, that lingers on the palate with a soft sweetness and soft tannins. Progressing into the mid palate, evolving into traces of black cherry, plums, and a hint of forest floor and cola. It finishes with a hint of soft oak, cassis, and anise.
Pairs extremely well with roasted game, duck breast with a cherry glaze, steak au poivre, or grilled portobello mushroom wine reduction sauce.
Absolutely enjoy now, or will age well into 2020.
Decant before serving…
